Are you going to Power Shift in Washington, D.C. from Feb 27 to Mar 2?
10,000 people have signed up to gather in front of the Capitol and show support for clean, renewable energy.
We’ll be taking a charter bus up to Washington and sleeping in a church all four nights. The total cost of the trip — including registration, the ride and lodging — is $160, but if you help fundraise with us, you may be able to go for free.
There will be a group of UF students meeting at the Hub on Monday at 7 p.m. to register for Power Shift at the reduced group rate and to talk about fundraising. If you want to save money and possibly go for free, you should definitely attend this meeting. Look for Jessica in the bright green Power Vote shirt.

On January 20th, the day before the RecyleMania kickoff, we will be hosting a “dumpster dive” to collect recyclables to demonstrate all the recycling that does not make it into the recycling bins on campus each day.
The “dive” will last no more than 2 hours, and will start at 5:45pm at the Reitz Union Colonnade. We’ll provide the bags, gloves, and hand sanitizer. Come ready to get down and dirty!
RecycleMania is a semester-long competition among colleges across the nation to see which one can recycle the most. UF won 3rd place in gross tonnage of recyclables last year. We can make first place this year with your help!
Please contact Bailey Kilbourne at bailey@ufl.edu to sign up. Note: This is also a great opportunity for all those Green Team volunteers who have missed their Saturday shifts.

This Spring, the Office of Sustainability will introduce the
new “Sustainability Hut” to reach out to students on campus in order to create a more sustainable UF!
The hut will be around campus for 2 days each week with tons of information, interactive activities, and even some give-a-ways!
However, in order for this to be a success, we need some help from volunteers. Within the next two weeks, the Office of Sustainability will host a training session for anyone who is interested in volunteering during the spring pilot program.
This is a great chance to get involved with the hut early in the process and mold its development. If you’re interested please email Claire Long at clairelong@gmail.com so she can get you more information and the specific training location.
